REV. SALLIE B. COOKS Ed. D., INTERIM PASTOR

Reverend Sallie B. Cooks, Ed. D. is a native of Edgefield, South Carolina, the third of eight children born to Reverend Robert Brightharp, Sr, and Viola Broadwater Brightharp. She is married to Calvin Leon “Ted” Cooks and is the mother of four children, grandmotherRevCookspic of thirteen, and great-grandmother of four.

She was called into the ministry in 2004 and preached her initial sermon in December 2004. She became an ordained minister at Mount Canaan Baptist Church in Trenton, South Carolina in March 2006. At Mount Canaan, she has served as an assistant to the past pastor Rev. George L. Brightharp, Adult Sunday School Teacher, Bible Study Teacher, Chairwoman of the Deaconess Board, Usher Ministry, Vacation Bible School, Missionary Ministry, Prison Ministry, and others.

She attended Bettis Academy Elementary and Douglas Elementary Schools and graduated from W. E. Parker High School. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Claflin University, Orangeburg, South Carolina; a Master of Human Resource Management from Nova Southeastern University, Doctor of Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She has done biblical studies with the Augusta Biblical Institute and Beacon University. She has received certification in Christian Counseling from Sarasota Academy of Christian Counseling, Sarasota, Florida.

She and her husband Calvin are co-founders of Power One Family Matters Ministries, Inc. in Trenton, South Carolina.
Her community services include Edgefield County Churches Helping Others where she serves as president of the board of directors, and member of local and statewide boards for our children.

She has traveled to South Africa and China in her evangelical missionary service.

Rev. Cooks is known for her compassion for serving others. She says, “Serving the Present Age” is a blessing from God.
